In this once a week introductory to intermediate wheel throwing class which is held under my covered outdoor pottery veranda (for inclement weather- my studio or home sunroom), we will learn the dynamics of building and experimenting on the potter’s wheel. With all supplies included, you will learn all of the technical steps of creating pottery on the wheel and incorporate expressive elements of hand building into basic functional forms: bowls, cups, vases, etc.

Hand Building Class, ages 6-12

In this once a week introductory to intermediate hand building ceramics class held on my covered outdoor pottery veranda ( for inclement weather- my studio or home sunroom, we will learn the foundations of handbuilding with clay as sculpture, functionality, and personal expression using pinch, coil, and relief methods. You will also incorporate underglazing and glazing. Projects will be fired twice and returned to you in 4-6 weeks.

Open Studio Hand Building

Pick a project or project of the month. Choose a small (1-2 lbs of clay),medium( 2- 3lbs of clay),or large(3-4 lbs) earthenware/ stoneware - project or the project of the month ( blessing platters) to build with plenty of individualized instruction with your design in mind. During your first 2 hour of the hand building session, you will complete your project. In 2 weeks, you will come back for a glazing session followed by a second firing . Price covers small projects; added prices for larger projects on location.

Intro Wheel Throwing Workshop

First time introduction to pottery throwing with the pottery wheel and clay. Learn to use the pottery wheel, center clay , make a bowl, cup or plate. We will have about two hours to play with clay making a couple of pieces of pottery like a cup and bowl. First time introductory class for throwing pottery on the wheel- learn all the steps from start to finish with hands on guidance and exploration. You will make 1-3 pieces ( small bowls, cups, etc. ) Second session, you will schedule to glaze.

Open Studio Hand Building
